appearance
Tory stands at about 5'7", with messy dark hair and eyes that vary between really glossy and sharply focused depending on his mood. He usually wears dark colours that are loose fitting and appear messy - regardless of how clean they actually are - which adds to his disheveled appearance. It is not uncommon for him to be sporting bloodstains. He usually is grinning like a madman, and can often be heard giggling for no apparent reason. He has oddly perceptive blue eyes. He's usually got a stupid grin in place, and has a tendency to walk with a swagger. Except when he's focused on a task or a kill. Then you know that he means business. He's been described as having an "evil sense of humour". As a wizard, he had a passion for the Dark Arts and was focused on blood purity.

skills
PAIN TOLERANCE: In spite of appearances, Tory is human. He has human weaknesses in terms of his stamina, pain tolerance, intelligence, mortality, and strength. That said, his weaknesses are much less apparent in him than they are in others, due to the fact that he pushes himself beyond what some may consider "normal" limits in an attempt to see how far he can push his body before it gives up on him.

WIZARD: In some incarnations, Tory has been played as a Harry Potter-verse wizard, and has magical abilities associated with that universe. He specialized in the Dark Arts, specifically the Imperius Curse.

history
Tory's childhood is a bit of a blur to him. He can't remember much before his teen years. After proving a danger to himself and others through self-and-other-mutilation, his parents put him into a mental institution, which he only "escaped" by faking a recovery in his mid-teens. After which he – predictably – tortured and killed his parents before fleeing the state and starting a life of... mayhem.

He learned to fight the hard way, more or less, by picking battles that he didn't know how to handle. He taught himself everything he knows about pain through practice on various test subjects, be they others or himself. He "won" Marsha in a "fight" against a particularly rough opponent – he took on a brute who tried to beat him down, but he managed to outlast until the other was tired of hitting. Then he nailed him with a blow to the back of the head, and took his gun. The brute had a tattoo that read 'Mother' on his arm, but Tory didn't read it properly and thought he was naming the gun after it's old owner.

Tory is one of those individuals that you can tell is creepy from a distance. He has almost a permanent smile and giggle that are accompanied by an awkward sort of swagger-walk. He appears insane - and while that isn't inaccurate, it isn't all there is to Tory's personality. At least half of it - if not more - is an act, as lurking beneath the surface is a cold blooded killer who's only real interest in life is satisfying his own curiosity about the human body and it's endurance level. This is, of course, mixed in with varying interactions that don't involve satisfying that goal - some more convoluted than others.

The characters were drawn together to aid in the battle between Chaos and Order. The characters were pawns in a game played by the Powers, though the rules are always changing.

Not so very long ago, the Powers that Be decided it was time to decide which force should be ruling the Multiverse: the force of Order and light, or the force of Chaos and darkness. So the Powers set up two worlds inside of two bubbles, and picked their chosen representatives from various realities and points in time. Time rolled on, but after only three and a half weeks, they decided the forces were not balanced. That the pawns, the players in their cosmic war, were not equally matched. So they re-evaluated the people they'd chosen, shuffling some into the other bubble. They realized too late that some people had formed bonds in the short time they'd been in these worlds between worlds, nearly unbreakable bonds, and they would not be swayed so easy to their newly chosen side. And so, on midnight of the twenty-fourth day of the war, the Powers that Be sent most of their chosen warriors and catalysts to a new reality, merging the two existing bubbles. They have decided to start drawing in more people, letting bonds form with no barriers between the sides. Chaos' warriors are mingling with Order's chosen, and new people are being brought in on the whims of the Powers.

The magician Horvath - in his attempt to return Morgana to the world - accidentally created a hole in spacetime through which other individuals fell through into modern day New York. With the line of returning dead slowing down (or hopefully stopped), with Tom Riddle under the watchful eye of Albus Dumbledore, with Fenrir Greyback dead, with Narcissa Malfoy no longer in office as Minister for Magic, and with the "forgotten" Muggleborns still being tracked down, the wizarding world is hoping for a return of peace and normalcy.

In game, Tory is Torrence Mulciber, born 1960. He attended Hogwards from 1971-1978, and was in Slytherin. Afterwards he joined Voldemort, becoming a Death Eater and living off family money. During his time at Hogwarts, he and his friend Avery enjoyed playing cruel pranks on their fellow students, including Mary Macdonald, on whom Mulciber attempted to use Dark Magic during the 1975-1976 school year. Mulciber was also a friend of Severus Snape, which upset Lily Evans, who was Snape's best friend at the time. She found Mulciber's sense of humour to be very sadistic and did not understand how Severus could associate with someone like him. Mulciber eventually joined the Death Eaters, and captured after the fall of Lord Voldemort and sent to Azkaban. In 1996 with the revolt of the DementLater that year, he participated in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, and was paired with Lucius Malfoy. After the battle, he was captured once more, but escaped shortly after with the other Death Eaters in 1997. He fought and died during the Battle of Hogwarts.

They’d started their ‘social experiments’ a quarter of a century ago, give or take. First it was locals, volunteers, and then ... they weren’t volunteers, but people that the Heads thought would be good candidates. In 2032, they developed the technology to rift space and time, and as they honed the technique to pinpoint characteristic held by people across realities.

As the summer of 2023 comes to a close, Hogwarts is gearing up to hold a Triwizard Tournament to improve international relations. Students from Durmstrang and Beauxbatons will be spending the year at Hogwarts and three brave students will compete for glory. The memories of the last Triwizard Tournament have a few people on edge, but there hasn't been any major threat to the wizarding world in a number of years so surely it will go smoothly this time.

Little do they know, an underground struggle is forming between unseen shadows and the resurrection stone has been found and experimented on. Not even the current owner knows what effects his spells have had, but it's bound to be more than anyone bargained for.

Morality comes in shades of grey, and none know it quite so well as the Alliance. Exposed for their crimes, they curl up to lick wounds and regroup. Humanity is still in desperate need of betterment, and those who don't leave the establishment in disgust after the origin of Reavers is leaked unite to rebuild a better, more elaborate project. What better way to skirt by the principles of morality than by choosing test subjects who technically shouldn't even exist?

Nobody knows for certain just how the technology was acquired, but cleverly reverse-engineered alien - some might say, Time Lord - tech allowed the same projects responsible for River Tam to continue unscathed. Drawing people from other points in time within parallel universes meant having no family or friends to answer to when those test subjects were harmed during experimentation - and having access to a vast array of natural talents unavailable in humans of their home world.

It worked, initially, but over time the lab rats began to grow discontent. Subjects from the same realities grew closer, patients with similar augmentations began training together in secret, and ultimately the Alliance learned an extremely important lesson: when you mistreat people with incredibly powerful abilities, you will get burned. Those dragged into a world where they never belonged have taken up residence on the once-abandoned planet of Miranda and, with great effort, hijacked the technology used to bend reality. They may not be able to seal the rifts in time and space, but they have been able to prevent the world from collapsing and redirect most rifts to the commandeered planet so newcomers aren't stranded without assistance in a vast, new universe.

Though it took years of war and unfathomable losses, the military compounds which once experimented upon innocent other-worlders have been destroyed. Project: Paradise Lost, the origin of River Tam, has finally seen its last day in the sun and, as far as the 'verse as a whole knows, things have gone quiet on the human augmentation front. Deep in a secret facility, however, Project: Odyssey has taken root - and with it, the Alliance has begun cannibalizing its own military forces, drawing in new recruits who show potential in further experimentation with enhanced powers. Perhaps it's true, what they say: war never changes.
