appearance
Link is a male who is just reaching the end of adolescence, about average height with dirty blond hair and sharp blue eyes. He wears clothes that he's largely unfamiliar with - a green tunic, green hat, and brown boots - as they are deemed clothes of the "hero of legend" and were given to him by a Spirit. Link sports a large sword with a purple handle - known as the Master Sword - and a metal shield with an intricate blue, red and yellow design known as the Hylian Shield on his back. He may also have an arrow quiver and bow, and a bomb bag.

On the back of his left hand, Link has a symbol that is in the shape of three triangles. In moments of high stress, or when he is doing something particularly heroic, the bottom left triangle glows so brightly that it shines through the gloves he wears.

In a recent plot in game, Link had a shard of black magic embedded into his skin that forced him to remain in a form that he takes when he crosses over into the world of Twilight - a black and white wolf, with a chain on its left paw. Whenever his skin comes into contact with this shard, he transforms into this shape. However, his Master sword is filled with such purity that upon contact with it, he transforms back into his Hylain self.

While Link is in his Hylian form, his partner Midna often hides in his shadow. While he is in his wolf form, Midna rides on his back.

skills
WEAPON MASTER: Link is depicted throughout the series as an impressive swordsman. He usually begins his adventure as an average boy with little to no swordsmanship skills. When trouble arises, however, Link demonstrates a natural aptitude for the ways of the sword and is able to best his enemies easily. As the game progresses, Link becomes known for his swordsmanship as well as his ability to quickly adapt to a wide variety of items and skillfully wield them, such as the Boomerang, the Bow, and the Clawshot, among others.

PHYSICAL ABILITY: Additionally, Link is portrayed as having an excellent physical condition, performing backflips easily as well as being able to best others in sumo-wrestling, as seen in Twilight Princess. However, despite this, Link is usually defenseless without a sword or an item.

MAGIC: Link is capable of using magic spells such as Din's Fire provided that he possesses a Magic Meter, which is usually granted to him by a Great Fairy.

MISC: Link is also talented in playing a wide variety of instruments.

history
Link was born and raised in the farm town of Ordon. He worked with the - rather large - goats there as a wrangler of sorts. He also practiced with a wooden sword and shield and did some defensive work for the town. His parents, and his origins beyond that are largely unknown - perhaps to him as well. He does not dwell on the past.  His world was turned upside down when a monster came into town and kidnapped two of his best friends - Colin and Ilia. While chasing after them, Link was captured and pulled into a strange world of Twilight, and subsequently found himself transformed into a wolf. With the assistance of a strange imp by the name of Midna, Link managed to escape permanent imprisonment, but still wears the remnants of the chain that was broken when Midna freed him.  From there, Link embarked on a journey - sanctioned by the Princess Zelda - to save Hyrule from the ever-creeping Twilight, and thus his kidnapped friends. He enlisted the service of Midna in his travels, and through her gained a great deal of self confidence that he had been lacking as a poor farm boy. They were mid-journey when he was pulled to Altruia. Link is fairly stoic, and doesn't speak much with words. This is partially due to a confidence issue, and partially because he doesn't feel he has a lot to say. His is observant, and wary, and quick to attack in various situations.  If he meets the right person, Link will open up and reveal a lot of the weight that he carries. He harbours a lot of guilt and pain, and experiences a great deal of memories of what he believes to be past lives. He wanders around the world with a bit of a saviour complex - he knows that he has been chosen to rid the world of evil, but he is not entirely confident enough to understand why.
GAME: [info]Altruia
In ages past, the island paradise of Altruia once flourished with life, with culture. Great cities sprawled amid the jungles, the marble and limestone shimmering in the bright sun. The people We loved lived in grace and harmony with the flora and fauna of the jungle. They were Our children, and We bestowed upon them peace, longevity, and knowledge. We watched with joy as they grew from a primitive society into a great civilization, developing great technological advances to better life for all on the island.

It was a utopia beyond parallel. All lived in peace, singing their praises to Us, and We walked among them in love for centuries untold.

But, as it often does, power corrupted the leaders of this great society. They grew selfish and vain, abusing what We had so graciously given. They turned their attentions, not to peace and betterment of their fellows, but to war and conquest. Angered by this betrayal of Our trust, We touched the earth beneath the Palace of Eternity and lifted the ancient earth, opening the rift in the land and letting the molten core flow from the wound. The newly formed volcano demolished the beautiful Altruia, razed to the earth its once imperial splendor.

Altruia was no more.

For eons We wept, uncaring that Nature once more extended her gentle hand and began to reclaim what We had once cherished so lovingly. Overcome with Our grief, We let the memories of Our beloved Altruia fade into Time’s passage, shadowed echoes of what had once been this paradise. But even as We returned to our heavenly abode, Our ears quickened with the voices of new life, life that had come into being out amongst the distant stars. Life that might even bring about the restoration of Our former Altruia.

And so, We awakened from Our mourning and began to extend Our hands, bringing those to Us who might take Us forward into bright glory once again…for Altruia…
